SAND CITY BUILT IN HIETALAHTI BEACH AND TRANSPORTED TO KIASMA ON THE 4TH OF AUGUST 2006, COLLABORATIVE PROJECT
A collaborative project between ten artists with different nationalities, brought together by a workshop called Collaboration on Site during the ARS 06 exhibition in Kiasma. In order to make everyone equal in the group, we decided to call each participant Bogie Braun, also to show respect for one member of the group who could not stay until the end.
After a lot of discussions all the Bogi Braun’s agreed to build together a utopian city in sand. We decided to use anarchy as a structure, but in a way where we would all give space for each other and help everyone fulfill their constructions.
The building started early in the morning and the finished city was lifted of the beach and transported, as carefully as possible, to Kiasma for the opening of the exhibition. The act was documented with a DV cam and shown in a monitor next to the ruins of the city.
