HER PRESENCE STILL 2007

Installation, two head-phones, two chairs, table, two-way mirror, motion sensors light, lightning console and a dimmer.

Consequences and Proposals, The Biennale of Young Artists Tallinn, curated by Anneli Porri & Rael Artel

Her presence still is an installation in two parts. It starts with a corridor that leads into a small room. The light in the room is dimmed, a table with two chairs stands on the opposite side of the entrance. There are headphones hanging above each chair. The sound in the headphones is a monologue by a woman, who tells a story about her grandfather's accident that has enigmatic dimensions. The sound is recorded using a technique that brings the presence of the story teller into the room. The story is told in Estonian in one set of headphones and in English in the other.
After the room the corridor makes two turns and the viewer encounters a mirror. The viewers image in the mirror starts to fade when walking closer to it, and finally becomes transparent.
